Use of drone in topcontrol

.

Together with our partner, Andøya Space Center (ASC), Nordiconsult has performed a number of pole-top inspections on 22 kV, 66 kV and 132 kV lines in recent years.

.
These inspections are very useful. Our pole-top inspections provide us with accurate and reliable data.

.
The use of drones has a number of advantages: They provide access to places that are inaccessible by helicopter. They record images from all pole sides. They do not expose people in the vicinity to noise and unnecessary risk.
.

We are able to offer the following in collaboration with ASC:
.

  • Annual pole-top inspections
  • 10-year pole-top inspections
  • Vegetation growth inspections
    –  Inspections of dams, pipe corridors etc.

.
ASC uses full-format cameras to obtain high-quality images that show all necessary details. IR cameras are also used for specific purposes.

.
Once the inspection has been completed, the GPS coordinates are uploaded to NordiConsult where they are sorted and linked to the respective pole positions. The images are then entered into the program NordiConsult Express, where all data on anomalies are categorised in accordance with industry norms and standards, including REN AS’ standards.

.
Following a review and image inspection, the information is then transmitted to the network company and imported into the customer’s Netbas or NIS system.

.
The customer gets a ‘turnkey solution’, where anomalies recorded during the line inspection are systematically presented with comments, so that the data can be easily seen in conjunction with the customer’s own data on network conditions and appropriate actions taken.
